The Trip to Chicago was a great opportunity in my life. I learned and saw what a city meant after seeing Chicago. the visit to the shed Aguarium,museum and the Hull house provoked my thought on how that great idea could be taken and implemented in South Sudan. While at the hull house, I learned a lot about Jane Adams who was born in 1860.during her time, gender equity doesn't exist but she was empowered . I admired her  spirit of Team work. her co-workers included, Ellen Gates Starr a co-founder of settlement house, Mary keyser a 3rd founder of settlement house.

the most important thing I learned was their idea to create a conducive environment free of children exploitation, they opened up a kinder garden and the first play ground in Chicago yet now there are 500 play grounds in Chicago. This idea is vital for the children of south Sudan who are dramatized. Schools and kinder gardens must have play grounds because children who play are Happier and perform better in class. I will advocate for children's right when I get back to south Sudan.

Midwest Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES)

The conference was very important to me and ended in a Style...

I was really impressed in one of the sessions where I felt Yes,this is where I belong!!

The presender was James Brown whose Resarch was about Teacher Training and the case study 

was Malawi.Sponsored by save the children.

He noted that 60% of the Teachers in Malawi were unqualified and enrolled for inservice Training

while only 40% of the teachers were qualified.he said,the difference between the two was that,the qualified teachers introduced their lessons with an ice breaker so as to engage the pupils in class while the unqualified do not.He said, language of instruction was Native language from grade 1-4 and English was introduced from grade 5. In the feedback,he talked about the new ways of understanding pedagogy,Teacher quality and lastly he mentioned the biggest problem which was lack of scholastic materials.

Why was I interested in the Research ? I felt James was Representing the Voice of South Sudan.

Approche to SouthSudan's History curriculum

The 22years civil war in South Sudan had been the longest civil war in the record.the Dec/15/2013 internal conflict is the most recent and serious setback in an almost 23years post-civil war.

South Sudan's history should strive for resilience hence,Neutral approach should be used.

The history in primary schools should be a focus on how people live and diversity while in secondary ,they should learn history of Identity and other peoples' history which will change their attitudes  before teaching the history of South Sudan. Why? History is the past,present and the future.when students are introduced to good side at an early stage,the heart of revenge would have been dealt with and they will start identifying themselves as "We not I "therefore learning history of South Sudan will be basically for knowledge.

My experience in Indiana
 My experience at Indiana is quiet different to that of Dr Julia because I put up with the Host community and they are hospitable and surprisingly ,my roommates asked us to count on them in case of a ride or an emergency.I wonder what would have happened if they had stayed in isolation and ignored us? how would I have shared the leaving room and kitchen with them? my experience could be similar to that of Dr Julia in that, in the class, I am getting used to different styles of instruction from different instructors. I wonder how I would have managed if I hadn't read Dr Julia's book?
